On Process and Perfection Continued

Once I made the decision to paint over the hawk in the image, I too was set free. It wasn’t an easy thing to do. It felt rather like I was losing a friend that I had lived with for a long while, but knowing he had led me to the final stages of this process helped me to think of him as a spirit guide in the journey.
There were a few more layers added and then a layer of glitter applied in a frenzy that I attempted to move around with some turpentine on a wad of paper towels. Surely it was a mess of hasty decisions. “Not so,” said the guiding spirit. An alchemical reaction formed between the glitter and the turps. When I completely let go of knowing what I was doing and surrendered to the eternal energy of creativity, something magical transpired.
